MACAYO’S DONATES FAMILY NIGHT 2006 PROCEEDS
TO VALLEY CHARITY, NOT MY KID, INC.
PHOENIX
-- (October 26, 2006) –
Macayo’s Mexican Kitchen presented Not My Kid, Inc., a national non-profit
organization, with a donation of $3,250 to benefit the organization on October
11 at the Macayo’s restaurant located in Scottsdale.
Not My Kid and Macayo’s
teamed up to host Family Night 2006, a fundraiser and event aimed at getting
families to dine together to increase awareness. Macayo’s hosted the event at
all Valley Macayo’s locations on September 25, 2006 and 60 cents from every
entrée purchased that night was donated to the charity’s general fund.
Reed Johnson, area director of
Macayo’s Mexican Kitchen, presented the donation amount to Pamala
Plummer-Wright, national executive director of Not My Kid, Inc. amid a large
crowd of long-time Macayo’s employees, Not My Kid board members and volunteers.
Macayo’s family members and staff were on-hand to show their support and
recognize the outstanding contributions Not My Kid makes to children’s lives and
the surrounding communities.
“Macayo’s believes the
behavioral health of our youth is the responsibility of the entire community,”
said Johnson. “Not My Kid has, and continues to play a key role in helping
Arizona families raise responsible children and we are proud to support such an
amazing organization.”
This is not the first time
Macayo’s has partnered with the Valley charity. In 2005, the restaurant donated
more than $20,000 from its Annual Enchilada Festival to Not My Kid.
Not My Kid, Inc. is dedicated
to facilitating an improved understanding about youth behavioral health issues
including suicide, drug abuse, eating disorders and depression. The organization
provides resources and programs to help teens and their parents prevent,
recognize and overcome such issues. To learn more about Not My Kid, Inc. please

About Macayo’s Mexican Kitchen
In 1946, when Woody and Victoria Johnson opened their first
Mexican food café in Phoenix, there were only six tables and a counter in the
restaurant. Each week they served about one hundred meals, most of them the $1
combination plate. Today the family has 17 restaurants, including four in Las
Vegas. Still family owned and operated, the company is now run by the Johnson’s’
two sons, Gary and Stephen, and daughter, Sharisse. In 2006, the Macayo’s family
celebrates its historic 60th anniversary year.
